The high rate of population growth in Indonesia and the COVID-19 pandemic have pushed the Ministry of Communications and Informatics (MCI) and all elements of the nation to adapt and move forward in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic which emphasized the community’s need for technology has motivated MCI to play an active role in improving the National Telecommunication Connectivity through digital infrastructure development throughout Indonesia. This is the reason why the Annual Report of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics of 2020 carried the theme: "CONNECTED INDONESIA, MORE DIGITAL MORE ADVANCED"

This pandemic has also affected various plans and programs in Indonesia’s other ministries/Institutions. It has forced the implementation of budget reallocations and refocusing policy. This policy allowed MCI to prioritize health service facilities and digital transformation programs and management.

 

To ensure the effectiveness and security of digital space infrastructure in Indonesia, it is necessary to create a more productive digital ecosystem through the issuance of several regulations and the implementation and acceleration of digital transformation to increase the internet link ratio in Indonesia.

Today, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics’ metamorphosis has led us to focus on the telecommunications and digital sectors, both of which have become basic infrastructure. Repositioning was also carried out on public communication, with the role of orchestration and setting the agenda being its main focus.

 

Together, let us look into the future with determination and enthusiasm, while setting a new vision for the Digital Indonesia, Indonesia towards a Digital Nation. Together, we optimistically welcome the emerging Indonesia’s telecommunications sector, with which we race into becoming a bright and promising digital nation.
